WHY THE INVESTMENT VISA IN PANAMA IS BETTERTHAN THE EB-5 PROGRAM?

Obtaining lifetime residency through Panama's Qualified Investment Immigration Program is an increasingly popular option for international investors from Asia, India, and Latin America. In addition to the fact that Panama meets the minimum standards that investors seek for asset allocation: security, political stability, use of the dollar, banking, and global connection, among other competitive advantages (like first-world countries), Panama Qualified Investor Program certainly has direct advantages over the U.S. EB-5 program, in several aspects.

Investment: First, the qualified investment program in Panama (under Decree 722 of 2020) is significantly less expensive than the EB-5 program. The EB-5 program requires a minimum investment of between $800,000 and $1,000,000 in purchasing property, establishing a business, or participating in a project or fund approved by the authorities. On the other hand, the qualified residency program in Panama only requires an investment of $300 K (until October 2024) with the purchase of a property to obtain a lifetime residency, with no additional requirements. The EB-5 program, on the other hand, requires the creation of at least 10 local jobs in addition to the investment to obtain residency.

Time frame:  In terms of time, the Panama Qualified Investment Program is much faster than the EB-5 program. The process to obtain residency through the EB-5 program can take several years, while obtaining permanent residency in Panama takes only 30 days once all required documentation has been correctly submitted to the Panamanian Immigration Service.

Documents: As for the requirements and documents, the EB-5 program requires a large amount of documentation, while Panama only requires the purchase of the property registered in the Public Registry as "proof of investment," plus the essential applicant's and family documentation, such as backgrounds, passports, birth certificates, and similars, to receive the proper approval.
